Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team recently competed in a competition sponsored by the Louisiana Tactical Police Officers Association and hosted by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. The competition is held each year in different areas of the state and is designed for the various SWAT teams to practice and sharpen their training, in addition to becoming more familiar with each other in the event they work together in a critical incident situation. The competition consisted of an obstacle course and shooting events where competitors worked against the clock.
The OPSO team won 1st place in the Sniper and Patrol Rifle competition, 2nd place in Handgun, 3rd place in shotgun and the obstacle course. The team finished in 2nd place overall.
