On June 25, 2013 at approximately 6:49am, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified of two subjects firing two handguns in the roadway near the 100 Block of Sonny Day Rd. in Monroe, LA. The responding deputies located a 12 year old juvenile along with Timothy Haynes, 23yo of Monroe, at the scene. Deputies observed Haynes attempt to discard a backpack before deputies made contact with him.

A subsequent investigation revealed that this backpack contained two handguns, ammunition and other stolen property. Deputies were able to link this property to several vehicle burglaries that had been reported earlier in the morning.

Investigators received testimonial evidence that confirms that both the juvenile and Haynes participated in numerous vehicle burglaries earlier this date. The statement also corroborates that the two suspects were firing the weapons on Sonny Day Rd.

Haynes was booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center for Illegal Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile and 5 counts of Burglary. The juvenile was transported to the Green Oaks Detention Center.

This investigation is ongoing with more arrests expected.
