Congratulations to Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Senior Investigator James Humphrey for winning the VFW Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. He received the award earlier today during a luncheon at the Rodney J. Hobbs VFW Post 1809 in Monroe.

Investigator Humphrey has been employed with OPSO since 2001. He transferred to Patrol in 2003 and was assigned to Investigations in 2009.  In 2013, he was assigned to the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force.  His case assignments are related to child sexual exploitation, human trafficking and internet related crimes.  His responsibilities also include community outreach by providing educational classes for both children and adult on internet awareness and safety.

Sheriff Jay Russell says “Investigator Humphrey is a very dedicated employee and has the task of investigating crimes of a very traumatic nature. He spends countless hours on such cases and will not rest until the perpetrator is arrested and convicted.”  Investigator Humphrey has been the lead investigator on several major child exploitation and trafficking cases in both the state and federal system.  Investigator Humphrey’s work doesn’t stop with the arrest of these predators. He follows through working closely with prosecutors as they bring the cases to trial and testifies on all of the evidence obtained. His investigative knowledge and attention to detail has given him a high conviction rate of the sexual predators he pursues.
