Congratulations to Sgt. Wayne Heckford for his recognition by Ouachita Green at their Awards Luncheon held Thursday, August 4, 2022. Sgt. Heckford was presented the James Poe Award for his efforts and commitment to furthering the goals of Ouachita Green, preserving natural beauty, protecting the environment, abating litter and educating the residents of Ouachita Parish of the goals and efforts of Ouachita Green.
Sgt. Heckford was assigned as Code Enforcement Deputy in 1996 and has continued in that role, pioneering many of the programs that are in place today that have served as models for other local governments to follow. During his career, he has brought over 15,000 cases to successful closure in the Ouachita Parish Environmental Court.
“Sgt. Heckford has been very committed as a Deputy of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office and to preserving the environment of Ouachita Parish. This is witnessed every day when we see the results of his efforts combined with those working with him. We are very proud of his accomplishments” said Sheriff Jay Russell.
