The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Major Larry Knight, a 29 year law enforcement veteran, has graduated from the 283rd session of the FBI’s National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Graduation ceremonies were held earlier today.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On the average they have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The class consisted of members representing law enforcement agencies from 49 states and the District of Columbia. The class also included members representing agencies from 21 countries, five military organizations and five federal civilian organizations. The training instructors consist of FBI Academy staff, Special Agents and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise.
Sheriff Jay Russell, himself a graduate of the 211th session of the FBI National Academy, knows firsthand the benefits of the FBI program. “While the training offered by the Academy is recognized as most advanced available, the personal and professional contacts he made with officers from all over the world will prove to be very valuable during his career” said Sheriff Russell. The Sheriff continued, saying “Major Knight will share his experiences and training with other members of our department that in turn will further enhance our ability to serve the citizens of Ouachita Parish.”
