Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Deputies Justin Dewey and Dakota Rodermund received the Meritorious Service Award from Acadian Ambulance representatives earlier today. The two deputies were recognized for their life-saving medical efforts that ultimately saved the life of a gunshot victim in April 2022.
The deputies responded to a reported shooting in the area of Arthur Circle in Monroe on April 22, 2022. Searching the area, they found the victim with several bullet wounds in a partially water-filled ditch. They were able to retrieve him out of the ditch, apply tourniquets and administer first aid for the wounds until Acadian arrived and transported him to the hospital where he eventually recovered. According to Acadian personnel, their efforts ultimately led to the victims survival.
