Sheriff Russell and Deputies are mourning the loss of retired Sgt. Tommy Malmay. Sgt. Malmay passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022.
He began his career as a Range Officer at the Rifle Range in 1981. He later was assigned to the Court Support Division as a Court Bailiff, splitting duty between the range and Court Support until transferring to Court Support full-time, retiring as a Sergeant in 2002. He received many thank you letters and commendation letters during his career for instructing Hunter Safety Courses and other activities while assigned the range. Those of us who worked with Tommy remember him as soft-spoken person, very dedicated to his job and service to the Sheriff’s Office and residents of Ouachita Parish. He was very well respected by his peers and will be missed. Please remember his family, his many friends and Deputies in your prayers during this time.
Funeral services are set for today at Kilpatrick’s in West Monroe. Visitation at the funeral home is from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the service immediately following.
